Good Omens, The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch Book Review

Genre: Fantasy

Author: Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman

Plot:
Mr. Crowley is feeling a bit stressed. He's just got the go ahead from the big Boss down below that its time for the Apocalypse, and Crowley is to make sure the End All War With Heaven Winner Take All goes over smoothly and victoriously. Only problem is, after 6000 years of living in a place, you get attached to it, and humankind had really out done itself with the 20th century. His only real company on Earth, Aziraphale the Angle, correspondent to Heaven, was of the same opinion, and after 6000 years on earth being technically sworn enemies, Crowley and Aziraphale feel they have more in common with each other than their bosses up and down stairs.
Meanwhile, the Adam Young, unknowingly the Antichrist, is turning eleven, and has developed some new ideas about what is best for the world (mostly concerning the rain forest, whales, and aliens)- but what can a kid and his three friends and hyper-loyal dog do about it?
Meanwhile, Anathema Device, a precocious young lady, has spent her whole life following the prophesies left behind by her ancestor Agnes Nutter- they are nice (meaning precise) and accurate, to the last detail, she can not avoid the conclusion that the world will end in seven days.
In a headlong rush into the future Crowley, Aziraphale, Anathema, and few people they pick up (or possess) on the way, must stop the only thing Heaven and Hell agree on- the Apocalypse.

Alex's Opinion:
A delightful parody of demons, angles, Adam and Eve, and the Apocalypse. At first I was cautious about reading a "combo author" book, but this book is fantastic. The characters, while not altogether too deep, are hilarious and unique. This book made me smile while I read it, as it shown a light on humanity in the witty way I am used to Terry Pratchett doing. I chuckled throughout the whole book.

Who would like it:
Lovers of fantasy, science fiction, and humor will enjoy this satirical work. If you've read Terry Pratchett's "disk world" series, this is a good branch out book. If you enjoy parody works, this one is original and smart. I would recommend it to high school students and older.
