Witches Abroad Book Review

Genre: Fantasy      Author: Terry Pratchett

Plot Synopsis
Isn't the dream of every poor kitchen girl to marry the handsome prince and live happily ever after? Don't we all wish we had a fairy godmother that could make that happen? Well, no, not exactly. Especially when there isn't just one fairy godmother, and one of them might not be so nice...Suddenly finding herself fairy godmother, Magrat sets out with Granny Weatherwax and Granny Ogg to prevent the kitchen girl from marrying the prince and along the way stop other fairy tales from reaching their 'logical' conclusion. I mean, is anyone actually happy when the grandma gets eaten by the big bad wolf? Seriously people, fairy tales are pretty awful, but these witches fully intend to make things right.

Brian's Review
This is the second of the witches books I've read in the Discworld universe - and it was great. While Granny Weatherwax is an especially good character, Greebo the evil cat steals the show in Witches Abroad. Death (pronounced DEATH) makes some humorous appearances as well. Absolutely hilarious - like many of Pratchett's books, I found myself bursting out laughing while reading Witches Abroad. If you're looking for a lighthearted book which dispenses with traditional fairy tale nonsense, I suggest picking this book up.

Read it!
