Micro Book Review

Genre: Adventure, Sci-fi     Authors: Michael Crichton and Richard Preston

Plot Synopsis
Whoa. Crichton has had some crazy plot ideas but Micro was one of the most terrifying. It is sort of like Jurassic Park, except there are more things (many, many more things) that want to eat you. What sorts of things? Well...Anyway, plot synopsis, righto! Imagine you are a graduate student (read: long hours, endless work, wait a second, it's almost 8 pm and I'm writing this in lab...hmm...) who has a brother working for some mysterious company. Then, in true Crichton style, you and a bunch of your lab mates get invited out to a tropical island on a recruiting visit at the company your brother works at. Oh, except your brother sends a text message reading "dont come" and then randomly 'drowns' (yeah right). What's going on? Oh dear reader, terrible terrible things...

Brian's Review
I was sad when I got into Crichton's books and then realized he had died of cancer - because he was an outstanding writer - truly very talented. So I was surprised when Micro came out recently. Turns out Crichton had been working on one last techno-thriller when he died, and Richard Preston finished it. Honestly, I don't know what stage the book was in when Preston took over, but he did a very good job and kept it true to Crichton's style. As for the book itself...well, I ended up reading it in a few fast-paced long reading sessions, unfortunately late at night when I should have been sleeping instead of freaking myself out with Crichton and Preston's storytelling...very, very good. I'd recommend Mirco to anyone who loves Crichton and who isn't afraid...(warning: Crichton is infamous for slaughtering off main characters. So don't get attached to anyone).

Read it!
